Ready to ditch the dock and cruise the waves?Of course you are, and there are ways to make sure you make the most of your time on the water by preparing the checked items on the list below. You don't want to miss out on any action shots - make sure you bring a waterproof camera. You don't have to break the bank for a digital waterproof camera case or a GoPro, you can simply pick up a disposable kodak film camera. It's easy to develop and scan the photos once you get back home. Make sure at least one person brings a fully charged cell phone on to the boat. It's important just in case of emergencies. If you are nervous about getting your cell or any other pieces of technology wet, bring a zip lock bag to store it in. This will prevent water damage, even from accidental small splashes from the boat. No matter where you are on the boat, sometimes getting splashed is unpreventable. Bring a change of dry clothes just in case, in order to avoid uncomfortable, wet clothes. It would be a good idea to bring extra towels just in case. Better dry than sorry! :) One of the upmost important things to have aboard your boat is a waterproof first aid kit. Accidents can happen and you want to be prepared. Double check you are always stocked up on motion sickness medicine - your passengers will thank you. First Aid Kit Tip: Upgrade your first aid kit by adding in insect repellent, lip balm with SPF, and sunscreen. If you are planning on fishing, bring an extra cooler to store your catch in. It's always nice to clean up after handling bait, keep hand sanitized wipes and paper towels handy to make your life easier. Grab a wide brimmed hat or a baseball cap to protect your face from excessive sun exposure. Bring a pair of sunglasses but make sure they fit snug on your face to avoid losing them. On that note, leave your favorite hat and shades at home. It's easy to lose things when the wind is blowing and the waves are crashing. Being in the sunshine and swimming in the water can exert a lot of your energy. Bring dry snacks like granola bars, chips or jerky to stay energized. Stay hydrated by keeping plenty of water bottles stored on the boat. Have a fun, safe time on your next planned adventure!Your friend,Kay-Tee

It's easy to get carried away with packing for a vacation, especially one that you've been longing to take over the last few months. But chances are, you really don't need to pack all those items for your vacation. Here are helpful tips I've learned during my own packing experiences in order to lighten your load by keeping unnecessary items at home. Ditch the different outfit for each dayDon't get me wrong, having a selection of clothes is great! Looking good and feeling good on your vacation is a must. But packing 1 (or 2, even sometimes 3) outfits per day is the quickest route to running out of space in your luggage. In most cases, you end up not wearing more than half of what you packed, anyway. Simply, pack a few t-shirts, comfortable shorts and shoes, (and a semi-formal outfit if you plan to visit somewhere that is more fancy). If you are worried about running out of clean outfits, you can always stop by the laundry mat or hand wash a few items when you need to. ...This includes excessive amounts of denimJeans are versatile, long-lasting and hides stains well. Unfortunately, it's also heavy and takes up a lot of luggage space! So stick with packing your favorite pair of jeans, along with breathable, light-weight bottoms. Toss the toiletriesUnless your camping, you can leave the toiletries at home. Most hotels will provide you with your bathroom essentials: shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, blow dryer, even a shoe shine kit! All you have to do is ask. Carry only 2 devices (or less)It's understandable to carry 2 devices if you are traveling for work, but most people can get by with just bringing their smartphones. Think about it: what can't smartphones do now-a-days? Make sure your music, movies and reading materials are all downloaded right in the palm of your hand. Phone cameras are almost as good (if not better) than digital cameras, too! This isn't only a good tip to reduce luggage, it's an easy way to unplug and truly enjoy your getaway. Bringing too many devices could distract you from enjoying every last moment of your vacation. Bye-bye to bling-blingLeave the designer bags and expensive jewelry at home for several reasons. You don't want to ruin your prized possessions... accidents do happen! Also, there is always the unfortunate possibility that your valuable things might get lost or stolen. Just keep it simple! Over preparing is another word for over packing.Avoid packing for situations that are unlikely going to happen. For example, if it isn't likely to rain, you don't need your raincoat or a beanie. Only pack for the things that you are planning to actually do. If you don't go hiking, no need to bring your hiking boots. Just the necessities will be more than enough.
