Two trips under $200 and I'm a happy traveler. The cost and time savings have me considering a third! I'm a thrifty traveler so I can appreciate the time people invest in finding the best value for their travel buck.
Here's a recent article from a couple weeks ago. The travel-guru and author of it, recommends the following valuable apps for price checking:
Another tip I would add, is to consider the small guys. For instance, when I fly to Dolphin Splash Beach Condo, I prefer to fly into Clearwater PIE airport. It's 12 miles from the condo and about the size of a house. Seriously, don't run because you'll probably run into a wall. Flights board outside and the "cafe" consists of a tiny storage cart that holds coffee and sports drinks. But, this tiny little airport has made regular travel, to sandy beaches, a complete breeze. Allegiant Air just added a flight from MKE to PIE and they now fly to PIE from 60 cities! My last flight was a direct flight and cost approx $80 RT/PP. My next two flights are under the $100 mark as well. Aside from saving the almighty dollar (which of course means more money for vacation splurging), I save about two hours of my life and am probably a kinder person for it. So, if Google isn't finding the price and schedule I want for a flight, I now look for nearby feeder airports. They're all over the country. If you're on Google Flights, click the + symbol next to the airport selection and add a couple nearby neighborhood airports to the search. Happy savings and safe travels! #Travel #Allegiant #SaveMoney #Save #Sanity #TimeSaver #Travel #Hack #MakeSplashes #TravelMore #TravelHack #LiveMore #Fly2PIE #Florida #VacationRental

Grocery delivery! Yes, please. On our most recent trip to the beach condo, we ordered ahead and our necessities arrived as we did. I placed an order through InstaCart as we boarded the plane in WI. By the time we landed in Clearwater, there was a notification on my phone that delivery was on its way. The delivery driver met us at our front door as we arrived via Uber. That was the first time I used InstaCart and I plan to use it again. There was a convenience fee of approximately $14 for my $180 order. Hopefully they paid that to the shopper but tipping is a good way to show appreciation for the service. Our order included items from Publix grocery store and ABC Liquor Store. CVS also participates in the program in Indian Shores so I could have added items to the cart from there as well. The only downside I saw on this app was that there is an annual fee over $100. However, you can avoid that if you sign up, use the free 14 day trial, and then cancel. Not ideal, but I'll do that until they skip the double-dip charge (service fee + membership). InstaCart is not the only service like this but if you're interested in checking it out, here's my promo code to save $10 on an order: https://inst.cr/t/smQSC8Fjf We did not rent a car on this past trip, and we don't have a car in FL yet, so this was an ideal convenience service for us. If we didn't order through a delivery service, I suppose we could have biked to the store, or taken the trolley, or called FREE Beach Ride. Either way, we loved having a fully-stocked fridge and cupboard within moments of arriving. So we celebrated by grilling under the stars and gazing at the Intracoastal waters in our backyard. #Travel #Hack #Grocery #Delivery #Vacation #Convenience #Tips #MakeSplashes |
